What does a Quantity Surveyor do?

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for accurately estimating and managing costs related to construction projects. They will work closely with the Project Manager and report directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. This role involves conducting cost analysis, preparing tender documents, and ensuring projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities of Quantity Surveyor

• Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
• Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities
• Analyze and evaluate construction drawings and specifications
• Source and obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
• Review and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
• Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction process
• Prepare and submit progress payment claims to clients
• Conduct site visits and inspections to assess progress and quality of work
• Identify and manage variations and change orders
• Prepare final accounts and close out projects
