What does a Project Engineer do?

The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing engineering projects from conception to completion. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate and lead project teams.

Responsibilities of Project Engineer

• Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
• Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements.
• Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
• Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
• Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
• Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
• Control project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts.
• Prepare project reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintain project database by entering and backing up data.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
