What does a Import Specialist do?

Responsibilities of Import Specialist
• Coordinate and manage all aspects of the import process, including documentation, customs clearance, and transportation logistics.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and trade agreements related to imports.
• Review and verify import documentation, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Classify imported goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes and determine the appropriate duty rates and customs fees.
• Communicate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely and efficient import operations.
• Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
• Prepare and submit import declarations and other required documents to customs authorities.
• Maintain accurate import records and files, including purchase orders, shipping documents, and customs documentation.
• Stay updated on changes in import regulations and trade policies to ensure compliance and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams, such as procurement, sales, and finance
