What does a Head of Supply Chain do?

Responsibilities of Head of Supply Chain

1. Oversee the development and implementation of supply chain strategies and processes that maximize efficiency and optimize cost effectiveness of the supply chain
2. Develop and manage key performance metrics to measure, monitor and analyze the performance of the supply chain
3. Manage and monitor the supply chain budget to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency
4. Oversee the procurement, transportation and inventory management of products and materials
5. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to the supply chain
6. Negotiate with suppliers, vendors and contractors to secure the best possible prices, terms, delivery and quality
7. Analyze trends and industry developments to identify potential new supply chain opportunities
8. Identify and assess suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain
9. Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors and suppliers
10. Monitor and report on supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement
