What does a Fire Fighter do?

The Firefighter position is responsible for responding to emergency situations, extinguishing fires, and providing assistance in rescue operations. Reporting to the Fire Chief, the firefighter will work as part of a team to ensure the safety of individuals and property, while also conducting fire prevention activities and maintaining equipment. This role requires physical strength, quick thinking, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities of Fire Fighter

• Responding to emergency calls and providing assistance at the scene of fires, accidents, and other emergencies
• Operating and maintaining firefighting equipment, including hoses, pumps, and ladders
• Conducting fire safety inspections and enforcing fire codes and regulations
• Participating in fire drills and training exercises to maintain readiness and improve skills
• Assisting in the rescue and evacuation of individuals from hazardous situations
• Administering first aid and CPR to injured individuals until medical professionals arrive
• Conducting fire investigations to determine the cause and origin of fires
• Collaborating with other emergency response agencies, such as police and medical personnel, to coordinate efforts during emergencies
• Educating the public on fire safety and prevention through community outreach programs and presentations
• Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports on incidents, equipment usage, and training activities
