What does a Estimator and Proposal Specialist do?
The Estimator and Proposal Specialist is responsible for compiling cost estimates and preparing proposals for clients in a timely and accurate manner. This position requires a highly organized individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The Estimator and Proposal Specialist must be able to work collaboratively with both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Additionally, the Estimator and Proposal Specialist must have a thorough understanding of the company’s products, services, and pricing structure.
Responsibilities of Estimator and Proposal Specialist
1. Prepare and submit accurate, timely and competitive estimates, proposals, bids and quotations for customers.
2. Develop, evaluate and negotiate cost estimates for projects in accordance with company processes and procedures.
3. Analyze customer requirements and develop cost estimates based on review of drawings and specifications.
4. Perform take-offs and quantify material, labor, equipment and subcontractor pricing.
5. Develop accurate cost and pricing spreadsheets to ensure pricing accuracy.
6. Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
7. Provide technical advice and presentations to customers.
8. Monitor and report project status and changes in cost estimates.
9. Maintain databases of historical cost data and pricing information.
10. Develop and manage proposal documents, including review and approval processes.
