What does a Employment Specialist do?

The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing assistance to job seekers in identifying and obtaining employment opportunities. The Employment Specialist will use a variety of methods to help job seekers develop the skills and knowledge necessary to secure and maintain employment. This includes providing career counseling and guidance, assessing job seekers’ abilities and needs, and developing and implementing job search strategies. The Employment Specialist will also assist employers in meeting their staffing needs by recruiting and screening qualified applicants. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities of Employment Specialist

1. Develop and implement employment plans for job seekers.
2. Utilize existing resources, create new opportunities and collaborate with other service providers to connect job seekers with employment.
3. Manage case files and support documentation for job seekers.
4. Provide job readiness training and career counseling for job seekers.
5. Utilize job search techniques to locate employment opportunities for job seekers.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with employers in the community.
7. Coordinate job fairs and other job search events.
8. Provide follow-up support to ensure successful job placement.
9. Network with employers to identify and develop job opportunities for job seekers.
10. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and report program outcomes.
