What does a Commis do?

The Commis is responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of various dishes in accordance with the company's recipes and standards. This position reports to the Sous Chef and works closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of high-quality food to customers. The Commis will also be involved in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area.

Responsibilities of Commis

• Assisting in the preparation and cooking of food items according to recipes and quality standards.
• Cleaning and maintaining work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Preparing ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning.
• Assisting in the plating and presentation of dishes.
• Monitoring food stock levels and notifying the supervisor of any shortages.
• Following all safety and sanitation procedures to ensure a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Assisting in the receiving and storage of food deliveries.
• Adhering to company policies and procedures, including portion control and food waste management.
• Participating in training programs and workshops to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
